What is a Sage Home?

Sage Homes are shared ownership properties built by Bovis Homes, allowing you to purchase a share of up to 75%. Meanwhile, you pay a monthly rent on the unsold share. Benefits include a smaller mortgage and a reduced deposit, which can help make getting on the property ladder more achievable.

How does it work?

Sage Homes built by Bovis Homes allow you to purchase a share of your chosen home and pay monthly rent on the unpurchased part. Depending on your affordability, you can buy shares from 42.5% up to 75%. Your landlord will be Sage Homes and they will grant you a 990-year lease. You will be charged an annual rent of 2.75% of the share of the property that you don’t own, but you can live in your home as if you have bought it in full. Shared ownership with Sage Homes gives you more affordable housing options when looking at new homes for sale.

 

Who is eligible for shared ownership with Sage Homes?

Eligibility to buy a Sage Home under shared ownership means meeting the following criteria:

  • You have a household income of less than £80,000 per year (£90,000 if you’re in London)
  • You can put down a deposit of at least 5%
  • You’ve passed a full financial assessment and the Homes England affordability calculator
  • You’re buying a house for the first time or are an existing homeowner who has sold subject to contract*
  • You don't own any other property and will use this one as your principal home.

Sage Homes built by Bovis Homes is a shared ownership product brought to you by Sage Homes, available on selected new build homes only, subject to contract and eligibility criteria. The Sage Homes product is subject to individual mortgage lender qualification and affordability criteria as prescribed by Homes England. Purchasing a Sage Home is subject to you first obtaining approval from Sage before reserving a new home. Eligibility for the product may be withdrawn at any time prior to reservation. Prices advertised can represent up to a 50% share of the new home.
