Ledbury has clubs for rugby, football and cricket if you need a sporting fix, while world-class horse racing is a few lengths away at the Hereford and Cheltenham Racecourses.

The market town has several parks for quick escapes on foot, while the Malvern Hills' southwestern edges are within walking distance. The Wye Valley National Landscape is also close by.

And when you need some retail therapy, Gloucester Quays shopping centre is around half an hour away. There, you'll find big-name brands, a cinema and several restaurants and bars. Hereford, 30 minutes to the west, also has several shopping precincts.

Budding connoisseurs and wine enthusiasts should head to the Three Choirs Vineyard, a 20-minute drive away. Based in Newent, this prestigious vineyard nestled in the heart of Gloucestershire is England's oldest.

For a Sunday service or relaxing stroll, take a trip to the three Cathedrals at Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester and admire the impressive architecture.

Local schools

Ledbury Primary School and Eastnor Parochial Primary School provide key stage one and two education to Ledbury. Secondary and sixth-form students have John Masefield High School available. Ledbury Primary also has a nursery for younger children, with a handful of other pre-school options available .

There are a number of colleges close to Ledbury, too. In Leominster, you'll find the Earl Mortimer College and Sixth Form Centre offering a broad and balanced curriculum. Or you can choose to continue your child's education at Hereford Sixth Form where over 40 subjects are offered to post-16 students.

Older pupils are spoilt for choice when it comes to universities, too. The University of Worcester, half an hour to the north, offers further education for students who don't want to stray too far from home. There's also the University of Gloucestershire with campuses in Gloucester and Cheltenham or Hartpury University and College - a smaller university with a personalised curriculum.

Transport and travel

Ledbury train station is in the north of the town and sits on the West Midlands Railway line between Birmingham New Street and Hereford. The station offers direct and indirect trains (mainly via Birmingham New Street) each day that journey to London Paddington in around three hours.

The M50 is just a 10-minute drive from the Hopfields development, with simple onward access to the M5 for national routes towards Worcester, Gloucester and Bristol. Ledbury is also well-served by several bus services for local trips and ones further afield to Hereford.

And when it's time to jet off, Ledbury locals can choose from airports in Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff that are all within a 90-minute drive.
