Stalbridge senior site manager wins third Seal of Excellence Award

Gary French has been awarded a prestigious NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in Job Seal of Excellence Award 2023 for the quality of his work in Stalbridge, for the third year running.

The senior site manager was assessed across six key areas of site management at Bovis Homes’ Blackmore Meadows development, including: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.

With over 23 years’ housebuilding experience and an NHBC NVQ level six in construction site management, Gary has been hailed as one of the very best site managers in the UK. For three consecutive years, the 43 year old has been presented with a Quality Award and singled out at the next stage of the competition by winning a coveted Seal of Excellence Award. He was also named the top site manager for the whole South West region in 2022 and went through to the final stage of the competition as the Regional Winner.

Gary lives in Yeovil with his wife, daughter and two sons. He began his career as a forklift driver before moving into site management and was previously a build manager but missed running his own site.

Gary commented: “I am so proud to have won a Seal of Excellence Award. Delivering high quality homes for our customers is a real passion of mine but you can’t build a development of 120 homes by yourself; it’s certainly been a team effort and I can’t thank everyone enough for their support.”

Regional managing director, Paul Moran, commented: “Gary is an outstanding senior site manager and it’s testament to his leadership skills that the team works so well together. To win three Quality Awards is fantastic, but to win the Seal of Excellence hat-trick as well is astonishing.

“Gary is a great colleague who’s generous with his time. He also mentored a trainee who went on to win an award in his first year as a site manager, which speaks volumes.”

Gary works for Vistry’s South West region, which builds Bovis and Linden properties. Three of his colleagues were also presented with Quality Awards: Marcus Ford at Tithe Barn in Exeter, Tom Jupp at Monument View in Wellington and Ollie Smart at Bay View in Northam. Marcus was also awarded with a Seal of Excellence for building homes of exceptional quality.
