The site manager at Boorley Park near Southampton has won his second Seal of Excellence from the National House Building Council for the quality of his work.
Jon Fuge, 37, oversees construction work at the Bovis Homes location near Botley, and has now picked up a total of seven NHBC awards – five Quality Awards and two Seal of Excellence Awards.
The NHBC runs its Pride in the Job awards annually and every site registered with them is automatically entered into the competition. Each site manager is judged on a wide range of aspects of their work including attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise and health and safety.
This year out of more than 8,000 sites across the country, only 444 managers reached the Quality Award standard and only 17 of the 51 Quality Award winners in the NHBC’s South West region won a Seal of Excellence. Jon is one of those.
Jon, who lives in Southampton, has been working at Boorley Park for three years and in that time his team has largely stayed the same.
“My name is on the award, but I couldn’t do it without the team,” he said. “It’s about building relationships, trust and camaraderie. We have a sense of pride and a sense of teamwork here, and we work hard. We know what we expect, and that is high standards and quality.”
He also paid tribute to his assistant site manager Nick Connors. “He has been with me the whole way, and is always by my side,” he said.
Jon also won a Quality Award and Seal of Excellence for Boorley Park two years ago.
Work at Boorley Park is in its final phase and Jon said: “It gives me a sense of pride to see it through and win this award.”
