Raising funds towards All Saints’ Church repairs
05 Aug 2021

All Saints’ Parochial Church Council is a step closer to reaching the £20,000 needed to preserve the church’s iconic 40 foot spire and make important repairs. Bovis Homes is building locally at Monument View in Wellington and has donated £1,000 towards the works, which will include: removing all existing shingles and replacing with treated cedar shingles ?" guaranteed for 40 years ?" plus replacing the frames and glass of eight archer windows. Reverend Martin Beaumont from All Saints’ Church commented: “We are very grateful to Bovis Homes for its donation of £1,000, it’s a significant sum and we have almost raised a quarter of the funds now. However, we’re still a way off and we’re looking at ways to ensure this important church is preserved as it deserves to be. “Just like the monument, the spire is an icon for the area. The pandemic has seriously curtailed fundraising events and with a repair start date of 20th September we really need help to meet the target, as going through another winter may well see the cost of repair soar.” Emma Smith, sales and marketing director, said: “We’re delighted to help All Saints’ Church, it’s a beautiful church steeped in history and an important part of the local community. We wish them all the best in their fundraising efforts and hope the church is restored back to full health soon.” Bovis Homes’ Monument View development is located on the outskirts of Wellington. The development features 205 new homes, along with areas of green open space and an equipped play area. Work started on site in autumn and the show home has just been launched.
