In 2021, a ceremonial brick was laid to mark the creation of the first homes at Orchard Grove in Comeytrowe and now residents have started moving in!
Andy and Kerry moved to a new Bovis home in April with their elderly cat, Mr C thanks to the company’s Home Exchange scheme.
Talking about their experience, Andy said: “We had been living in Taunton in Kerry’s two bedroom home but we were keen to find a place of our own and as her house was a Victorian property, we didn’t want to spend lots of money refurbishing it. There can be many hidden costs with older homes – replacing the boiler, changing windows, replastering walls – and we wanted to know where we stood financially so we could budget, as we’re engaged and hope to get married next year.
“Orchard Grove was always a frontrunner for us as Kerry is from Taunton and loves the location. We could also see it’s an area that’s going up in value and will continue to do so, especially when the parks and bus routes are created. Not only will it be a good investment for us but we also liked its sustainable credentials.
“We bought a two bedroom Holly home, which includes a lovely separate living room and an open plan kitchen and dining room with double doors that lead out to the garden. There is also a downstairs cloakroom and upstairs there’s an en-suite master bedroom, a second bedroom and a family bathroom. We love the house, there’s plenty of parking and we have three grown up children from previous relationships, so we have space for them to visit. I’d previously lived in a new home but Kerry hadn’t and adores the finish; it feels wonderful to live in a home where everything is up together.”
Andy continued: “We reserved in November 2021 and used the Home Exchange scheme, which meant Bovis Homes bought our property, enabling us to purchase one of theirs. The whole process was incredibly smooth as we had the assurance that we could stay in our existing house until our new one was ready, which made everything very easy.
“It’s exciting to see our neighbours moving in now, there’s already a little community forming and we’re looking forward to seeing the rest of the development take shape – especially the parks as we love our walks.
“I have some health issues at the moment and it’s important for me to keep active, so we’ve been doing lots of walking and I’ve definitely been reaching my 10,000 steps a day target. There are so many beautiful places to explore.
“The sales team couldn’t have done enough for us. Amy was superb and was very efficient, we couldn’t have asked for a better point of contact. We received an amazing hamper and voucher when we moved in. In fact, every detail seems to have been considered, we even had a tree planted in our garden – a birch – which was a lovely touch. We’re really happy in our new home and love that we were one of the first to move in!”
