Members of Widford Parish Lunch Club enjoyed a daytrip to the seaside thanks to a donation from housebuilder Vistry Eastern.
The Chelmsford-based developer provided £850 towards the cost of the group’s outing to the Suffolk coastal resort of Southwold on Wednesday 14 September.
The money paid for the hire of a wheelchair-accessible coach, which enabled one member of the club who has limited mobility to join the trip.
Reverend Stephanie Gillingham, Rector of Widford Parish, said: “I am so thankful to Vistry Eastern for sponsoring our lunch club’s day trip to Southwold. Everyone really enjoyed the day, the sun shone brightly and one of our members even swam in the sea.
“We have a member who spends most of her day in a wheelchair, which is why we needed this coach specifically because it has wheelchair access. She had a wonderful day and was so delighted to join us on the trip.”
Members of the lunch club spent the day taking in the sights of Southwold, sampling the local food, and exploring the town’s shops.
Vistry Eastern’s regional office is located at Eastwood House on Glebe Road in Chelmsford, less than two miles from the Widford Parish office on Forest Drive.
Jason Colmer, sales and marketing director for Vistry Eastern, said: “As a close neighbour of the church, we have a longstanding relationship with Widford Parish and are always keen to support their activities wherever possible.
“The lunch club performs an extremely important role in bringing people together in a friendly social setting and day trips such as this are a big part of what it does.
“We’re pleased to know that our donation made a positive difference and that members of the lunch club had a wonderful day out.”
Vistry Eastern is part of the Vistry Group, which includes Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships.
