Bimpe and Samuel Fayanju have spent a long time trying to find the best place to raise their family and they’re now happily settled in Bickington at Bovis Homes’ Cherry Fields development.
Bimpe, 43, is a nurse at North Devon District Hospital and Samuel, 46, is a carer. They have three children: Emmanuel (14), Mary (13), and Rachael (9).
Speaking about their experience, Bimpe said: “I moved from our hometown in Nigeria to Jamaica but after two years I wanted to relocate to the UK for work and to raise our family in a different environment.
“We moved to Barnstaple in 2021 and rented a two bedroom home while we saved money, but we were bursting out of the house – it was far too small for the five of us.
“We fell in love with our new home at Cherry Fields as soon as we saw it. We moved just before Christmas and even though it’s a busy time of year, it was such an easy move.
“We were so happy to get the keys, it was a joyful day! And I was amazed that our living room was bigger than the show home, I just couldn’t believe it! It feels like a dream to own our own property. We have a three bedroom semi-detached house with a big garden, a beautiful living room and lovely bedrooms. The houses we’ve lived in have been much smaller, so it feels truly wonderful to be living in such a great house, especially as it was so warm throughout the winter months.”
Bimpe added: “It’s not all been easy – we’d been looking to buy our own house for six months before we found Cherry Fields. However, as we’d moved from Jamaica and Nigeria so recently it wasn’t a quick process to get a mortgage and we’d struggled to access the correct information. We were lucky to meet Denise, the sales consultant, as she pointed us is in the direction of independent mortgage advisors. She was so helpful and guided us throughout the whole process, taking us through everything step by step.”
Bimpe said: “The location is great, it’s much closer and more convenient for us. It’s nearer town, easy for school, and it’s closer to work. We also have a bus stop near our house, which is great for the children to give them independence.
“I felt God encouraging us not to lose hope and we now have our lovely new home – it really is top notch. We feel so lucky, as though it was fate we moved. We really couldn’t be happier. It’s been our family dream together.”
