Children’s hospices get £10,000 boost from charity walkers
18 Nov 2021

A children’s hospice charity has received a £10,270 boost after a team of senior directors at Essex-based housebuilder Vistry Eastern tackled a 57km sponsored walk. East Anglia’s Children Hospices (EACH) has received a cheque for the money after the quartet completed a 35-mile trek from Eastbourne to Hove, which is part of the South Coast Ultra Challenge 2021. The successful walking team, which took part in the challenge in September, was made up of Vistry Eastern managing director Rob Church, technical director Paul Myall, build director Mark Imray and commercial director Jon Williams. Rob said: “It was hard work on the day and is an achievement that we are all proud of. We had to work as a team to encourage each other and to get everyone across the finish line. The scenery was stunning which helped but, to be honest, it wasn’t that hard to find inspiration to carry on to the end as we knew we were helping such a fantastic cause. “We are delighted to be able to hand over more than £10,000 after our fundraising efforts. All four of us would like to thank everyone who sponsored us for our walk. We would also like to express the high esteem in which we hold the EACH charity and everyone who works for them to help children and parents trying to cope at such an incredibly difficult time in their lives.” EACH, which is supported by its royal patron the Duchess of Cambridge, runs hospices in Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridgeshire. The hospices offer care and support for children with life-threatening conditions and their families who live in East Anglia. Billie Race, EACH corporate fundraiser, said: “Congratulations to the team from Vistry Eastern for completing their South Coast Challenge. We are thrilled they have chosen to support EACH through their fundraising and the valuable money raised will go towards our vital services supporting local families at a time when they need it most. “EACH is a lifeline to so many families at an unimaginably difficult time ?" offering care and support in the family home, in hospital or at one of three hospices. “Support of local businesses makes a real difference to the work we do ?" put simply we couldn’t run our services without support from companies like Vistry Eastern. A big thank you to everyone who took part for supporting EACH.” Vistry Eastern is part of the Vistry Group which comprises Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships. Based in Chelmsford, the region is currently building new homes at developments across East Anglia. For more information, visit lindenhomes.co.uk/eastern and bovishomes.co.uk.
