Young footballers from Caversham AFC have new shirts thanks to a donation from two local housebuilders.
Bovis Homes is building properties at its Emmer Green Drive location in Reading and as part of its support for the local community, they have given the club £500 to buy the new strip for players in the U15 Arrows.
The housebuilders, which are part of Vistry Group, are building the new homes off Kidmore End Road in the town.
Biswa Nanayakkara, coach for Caversham FC U15 Arrows, said: “Thank you so much to Vistry for their very generous sponsorship. We are thrilled that they are supporting our children and helping promote our community project for youth development, teamwork, leadership, football skills and life skills.
“They can rest assured that their kind donation is being put to good use, as anyone can see from the smiles on the boys’ faces! We are so grateful to have Vistry as part of our team.”
Emmer Green Drive will be made up of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses built on a 29-acre site on the former Reading Golf Club site.
Marketing manager for Vistry Thames Valley, Alix Laflin, said: “We are keen to get involved in supporting the local community as part of the new development taking shape at Emmer Green Drive.
“We were very happy to give £500 to the Caversham AFC U15 Arrows so that they could purchase new team shirts. We know the young players get a lot from being part of the team and hope the new shirts help them feel even more proud to represent the club.”
