When a house-chain collapsed leaving a Staffordshire family frustrated, a new-build Bovis Home provided the perfect remedy.
The Spindler family, from Lichfield, were looking to upsize to accommodate dad Brett’s requirements to work from home, but had been left disappointed when the purchase of a second-hand property in the city fell through.
“It was so demoralising,” explains Brett, who is originally from South Africa. “We had put a lot of time, energy and money into the move and it had all been for nothing. We knew that whatever we did next, we didn’t want to go through that again.”
Knowing that they wanted to stay in Lichfield, where they had lived since moving to the UK 11 years ago, the family decided to look at the new-build homes being built there.
“There were two new-build developments in Lichfield at the time, one of which was Bovis Homes’ Roman Heights location,” explains Brett.
“We paid a visit to the sales centre and spoke with Barney and Charlotte, who were incredibly helpful, and discovered that the Buxton house-type was exactly what we were looking for.”
The four-bedroom Buxton comes with open-plan living and dining area downstairs and three double and one single bedroom upstairs. It also has a downstairs study which particularly appealed to Brett.
“I work from home a lot,” he explains. “So the study was particularly appealing. The whole family were sold on the Buxton and on Bovis Homes, and so we made a reservation.”
The family also took advantage of the Home Exchange scheme, part-exchanging their existing home and avoiding any risk of collapsing chains. They were in their new home in just over five weeks, in plenty of time for Christmas 2018.
“Everything went very smoothly. The whole Bovis Homes team were great, and their engagement and support were second to none. There were some snags, as you’d expect, but the key was that the team were always willing to help,” says Brett.
“In fact, we had such a positive experience that we forged a lasting relationship with Barney and Charlotte, and still pop in to see them every now and then for coffee!”
