Letcombe Fields tops list for the Lees as Bovis Homes team take the stress out of moving

The perfect place for entertaining with good accessibility inside were top of the wish list when Catherine and Richard Lee began researching their move to Oxfordshire.
Open to viewing new and old properties, the couple knew they'd hit the jackpot when they viewed a brand new four-bedroom Saxony house type at Bovis Homes' Letcombe Fields location in Wantage.
Catherine has mobility issues stemming from a chronic long-term illness, so a property that could accommodate a wheelchair and - in the future - a stairlift, was key. In addition the sociable couple needed enough room to welcome family and friends. Married for three years, Catherine and Richard each have children from previous marriages and wanted somewhere the whole family could get together.
Having viewed the Letcombe Fields show home as part of their initial research, the couple returned six months later and everything fell into place. "The Bovis team gave us a really good welcome - they remembered us from our previous visit," says Catherine. "We'd done a lot to our previous home to ensure it was snapped up when it went on the market, and we weren't keen to do up another place. When we saw this house we both thought 'yes!'"
The couple decided to use the Bovis Homes recommended solicitor and independent mortgage broker for the buying process and found the experience very smooth. "They were very helpful and minimised the pain," says Catherine. "In fact, the whole Bovis team helped us tremendously; they seemed to take the stress out of the process."
The couple have now settled in and are enjoying their new life. "We had a lovely warm welcome from Gary and Pauline in the sales office when we moved in," says Catherine. "They really helped us to settle into our new home."
The couple are now adding the final personal touches to the décor, from putting up mirrors to fitting Catherine's beloved chandeliers. Richard has set up a home office in the study and works from there a couple of days a week, cutting down his commute. For Catherine, the ground-floor cloakroom, easy access into the house and spacious downstairs area suit her mobility needs.
In fact, it's come as a surprise to the couple is just how much they love the open-plan layout. "I'd had in my mind that I wanted a separate lounge and dining room," explains Catherine. "When we viewed the house, Gary suggested we move our furniture around to create different spaces and we could see how that would work. Now I find it's so much easier when I'm walking with a stick not to have to keep opening doors. And it stays so warm too, it's lovely!"
The couple are looking forward to a stress-free experience as owners of a new property. "We're in our fifties now and our priority is to enjoy ourselves," says Catherine. "We're even planning a low-maintenance garden so we'll have a place we can truly enjoy spending time in."
