Home buyer flying high at new Cotswold location

- 08 Aug 17

A unique redevelopment in Gloucestershire has taken flight, with the first home on a former RAF base being reserved by a buyer who is no stranger to the military world.

RAF Little Rissington in the Cotswolds has been transformed into a selection of stunning two, three and four bedroom homes, known as 'The Officers' Collection'. The creation of this new location has involved the refurbishment of the old officers' mess, the medical centre and the RAF station headquarters, giving buyers a chance to own a piece of history.

A mix of apartments, houses and cottages, The Officers' Collection has attracted a lot of interest in the local housing marketing, and first to reserve a home in 'Building 41' was an ex-RAF Air Cadet, Samantha Broadhurst.

After securing a new job in travel sales in Oxford as a South Africa specialist, Samantha was looking for a new home closer to work.

"I'm currently commuting from Northampton to my new job, so it'll be nice when I move into my new home and I'll be a lot closer!" says Samantha.

"It was a bit of coincidence that the home I found had an RAF connection, but it did definitely appeal to me. I was also drawn to the Home Exchange scheme, which makes everything a lot more convenient with my new job."

The Home Exchange scheme involves Bovis Homes buying a customer's existing property, reducing the stress and cost of selling up, and the challenge of dealing with house chains.

Having achieved the rank of flying officer, Samantha had to retire from the cadets after 22 years due to the long commute.

"I didn't have the time to continue with cadets now that I'm travelling home through all the traffic every day, but when I move into my new home I may re-join a local group," says Samantha, who is due to move into her new home later this year.

The transformation of the old RAF buildings into a collection of refurbished homes is part of the Victory Fields development, which saw a range of three, four, five and six bedroom homes being built on the site.

The sales information centre at The Officers' Collection is open daily, from 10am until 5pm. For more information ring 01451 499001, visit www.bovishomes.co.uk or pop into the sales centre at Upper Rissington.
