New homes in Shaftesbury are eco-friendly
- 27 Jul 11
Bovis Homes' new Shaftesbury development, Abbey Meadow, is set to be the most sustainable, environmentally-friendly community that the housebuilder has constructed in the south west in its 125-year history.
All the 47 new homes in the development at Mampitts Road will include special features designed to make the homes greener, in line with Level 3 of the Government's Code for Sustainable Homes.
"Bovis Homes is committed to sustainable development and the homes we are building at Abbey Meadow are our most sustainable yet," said Barry Cummins, Regional Sales and Customer Care Director. "They are much more energy efficient than, say, your average home built five years ago and with that improved efficiency comes the potential to keep household running costs down well into the future.
"We are excited to be back in the county building homes for the people of Dorset and look forward to welcoming local homebuyers to our new sales information centre which has just opened."
The sustainable features include the latest modern ventilation and heating systems that reduce CO2 emissions and maintain the indoor air quality, and low-energy light fittings.
"While the homes incorporate these new features they also have the traditional Bovis Homes all-inclusive specification," said Barry. "That means there are a number of fantastic features already included at no extra cost such as fully fitted kitchens and fitted wardrobes and en suites with many of the bedrooms."
Abbey Meadow will have a number of family homes with three and four bedrooms and as well as building the home, Bovis Homes is also ready to give the homebuyer a much-needed break with a number of purchase assistance schemes:
. The Perfect 10, a unique 10 percent deposit mortgage package with a competitive interest rate
. FirstBuy, the new first-time buyer scheme where you pay a 5% deposit and receive a 20% equity loan from Bovis Homes and the Government
. Jumpstart, a shared equity scheme where the buyer enjoys home ownership but pays as little as 85% of the initial price upfront
. Home Exchange, where Bovis Homes could buy the purchaser's existing house - saving them time, money and stress
. Smooth Move, where Bovis Homes will deal with the estate agents directly to help sell the buyer's old home - and pay their fees.
"We understand that the current mortgage availability situation can make this a tough time for buyers and we are ready to help out," said Barry. "We'd be delighted to support anyone looking to make their move onto or up the property ladder and we will be there to help them every step of the way."
