Snowmobiling and reindeer sleigh rides are in store for Kristen Harding, from Abbeydale, who won Heart Breakfast’s Home and Away phone-in, sponsored by Bovis Homes, plus £1,000 to spend on her home.

Kristen will take her son Cameron, 19, daughter Ferne, 15, niece Gabrielle, 11 and nephew Joseph, 7, to the Finnish region in December for tobogganing and a husky experience, all paid for by Bovis Homes.

Receiving her prize at Bovis Homes’ Coopers Edge location in Gloucester, she said: “I’ve entered a couple of other competitions before and to win one was just a huge shock. I’m completely speechless.

“We can’t believe we’re all going, I’ve never been anywhere like Lapland before.”

Kristen and her family will travel to Lapland from Bristol on December 23, for the day trip. She was picked from a prize draw after answering five questions correctly in the right order in the competition, which ran over a two-week period.

Heart Breakfast presenter Myles Galloway, who joined the station in the summer, said Home and Away was the most popular competition he’d seen at the station.

“This is the first big prize I’ve given away,” he said. “It was great fun and one of the biggest responses we’ve had. Everyone wants to go to Lapland for Christmas and it was the icing on the cake that someone like Kristen won.

Bovis Homes, which has a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes available across Gloucestershire and the South West, contributed the £1,000 and paid for the Lapland trip.

Stephanie Spry, regional marketing manager, said: “We’re over the moon Kristen and her family will get to meet Santa and take part in some absolutely fantastic activities, including a snowmobile adventure, in Lapland.

“We were delighted to meet Kristen at our Coopers Edge location and to help make her family’s Christmas.”
