Shrivenham site manager claims his second Pride in the Job Quality award

A site manager has earned a prestigious industry award for his efforts at a Shrivenham housing location.

Vistry Group site manager Clark Rutland, 36, has won the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award in recognition of his work at the Townsend Place development.

Vistry is building new homes under its Bovis Homes brand at the site off Townsend Road in the village, Shrivenham.

It is the second time Clark has won a Quality Award, having picked up the prize for the same development in 2020.

Clark, 36, who lives in Swindon said: “After a busy few weeks, winning this award made me feel over the moon, knowing that everyone’s hard work had paid off.

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t surrounded by my team when I found out, but I made sure to call them and everyone was so proud and happy to hear the news.”

Clark has been site manager at Townsend Place ever since construction work first began in January 2019.

He added: “This development is located in such a nice area and the houses are a great design which makes Townsend Place stand out. We have a fantastic team of like-minded people who always strive to do a good job which all contributes to the site’s success.”

The site manager began his career in the industry in 2004 when he joined Bovis Homes as an assistant materials controller. He was still with the company when it became part of the Vistry Group, alongside Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships, in January 2020.

“I knew I wanted to work within this industry as my dad was an electrician and one of my friends was a plasterer. I wanted to follow in their footsteps and that’s when I started labouring.

“Bovis has shown a lot of faith in me, and I was promoted to assistant site manager in 2011 before becoming site manager in 2012.”

Supriya Ray, managing director of Vistry Cotswolds, said; “This award is extremely well deserved. Clark has demonstrated superb leadership qualities and built a strong team around him at Townsend Place

“His second Pride in the Job Award is a fitting reward for Clark’s dedication and commitment to meeting the high standards that Vistry is constantly striving to achieve. With construction work due to finish at Townsend Place in August, we look forward to seeing Clark assemble another successful team at his next development.”

There is now just one new home still available to purchase at Townsend Place – a four-bedroom detached property priced at £520,000.
