Bude family enjoy the benefits of a new home in lockdown
- 11 Dec 20
After previously renovating a run-down property, the Johns family from Bude moved to a brand new home in August and were relieved with their choice during the last lockdown. Nicola and Sean Johns bought a four bedroom detached Alder at Bovis Homes’ Shorelands development in Bude and have praised staff on the finish of their new house. Nic, 34, is a community paediatric nurse and Sean, 44, is a plumber. They have two children: Alfie, 13 and Lily, 12. Speaking about their experience, Nic said: “We reserved pre-coronavirus and then moved this summer. We owned a three bedroom home just up the road and had spent time doing it up but Sean suggested we look at Shorelands and we fell in love with The Alder. We’d never bought a new home before and we couldn’t believe how spacious it was.” The Alder features a bay window in the large sitting room, an integral garage, an open plan kitchen, dining and family area with bi-fold doors out to the garden, a separate utility room, downstairs cloakroom, two en-suite bedrooms, a family bathroom and two further bedrooms. Nic added: “It’s a gorgeous home and I particularly love the landing and the ceilings, which are higher than average, it really makes a big difference. We’re very grateful to be living in a finished home with nothing left to do – unlike our previous home – there’s no sanding floorboards, replacing boilers or re-plastering, it’s beautiful and we now spend our spare time just relaxing together. Having done up a run down property and lived in a new build, I can tell you that we certainly won’t be doing any more renovation projects – we’re happy to let the builders do the work! Unfortunately, we had covid this autumn and I can’t tell you how relieved we were to be able to convalesce in our new home. “Bude is a wonderful place to bring up children: there are the beaches, loads of great walks, an amazing community, plus the schools are nearby, it’s also close to Morrisons and easy to get on the A39. “We’ve had a wonderful experience, Sami – the sales consultant – was excellent and everything has gone so smoothly, we’re delighted with the finish of our forever home.” Emma Smith, sales and marketing director at Bovis Homes, commented: “While it can be exciting renovating a property, the gift of time is invaluable and we’re pleased that the Johns family are enjoying some spare time in their new home. It’s been a year of change and for many people lockdown has highlighted the need to move, whether it’s the need for a bigger garden, a home office, or just to be that bit closer to the sea – where you live is so important and can really affect how you feel. Shorelands has been a very popular development and even though it’s in a seaside location, it’s not seasonal – we’ve reserved seven homes at Shorelands in the last month. “We wish the Johns family a lifetime of happiness in their new home!” Shorelands features an attractive collection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes in the coastal town of Bude, within walking distance of two beautiful sandy beaches and with plenty of shops, seaside boutiques and cafes nearby. The development is located on Wigeon Road, off A39 Brinhamy Road, Bude, EX23 9AA and there are currently three to five bedroom homes available from £278,000 to £408,000.
