First new homes on sale at Emmer Green Drive in Caversham

The first homes have been released for sale at Bovis Homes’ Emmer Green Drive location in Emmer Green.

The new homes are being built on the former Reading Golf Club site off Kidmore End Road, with the first properties available to reserve including a choice of two, three, four and five-bedroom designs.

Emmer Green Drive will consist of 156 new homes for private sale and 67 affordable properties available for local people through low-cost rent and shared ownership, alongside play areas and green open space for recreation and wildlife.

The majority of the properties at the development will benefit from photovoltaic solar panels and electric vehicle charging points, while a third will be heated by air source heat pumps.

Alix Laflin, marketing manager at Bovis Homes, said: “There has been a great deal of interest in these new homes ever since we first announced our plans to build at this well-known site, so we expect demand to be strong now we have released the first properties for sale.

“Caversham’s location on the north bank of the River Thames, just across the water from Reading town centre, means that new residents at Emmer Green Drive can enjoy the best of both worlds by living in a leafy rural setting while being only a short distance from the hustle and bustle of the town.

“Parents, in particular, will be drawn by the recreational opportunities offered by the open spaces on the 29-acre site and the choice of well-regarded schools in the area.

“Caversham was named as one of the most desirable places to live by the Sunday Times in 2020 and people living at Emmer Green Drive will be able to take advantage of the area’s independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Residents will be able to take leisurely strolls along the riverside or pop over to the Caversham Lakes and Marina which offer nature trails, an aqua park, a family beach and water sports activities.”

The properties at Emmer Green Drive are being built by Vistry Thames Valley, a region of Vistry Group, which includes Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Countryside Homes.

The first homes at the development will be sold from Bovis Homes’ Shinfield Meadows location in nearby Shinfield.
