Construction work completed on Bovis Homes properties at Fletcher’s Rise in Wombourne

Work has now finished on properties at Fletcher’s Rise location in Wombourne, with all homes built and sold.

Bovis Homes has delivered 90 new homes on the 10-acre site of a former plant nursery off Beggars Bush Lane in the village, including 36 affordable properties available for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership.

The development has also provided three areas of new public open space, which include a village green and a children’s play area, and has seen the planting of more than 150 trees in the area.

As part of the planning agreement for Fletcher’s Rise, Bovis Homes has also contributed more than £58,000 towards the maintenance of the on-site open space, and £76,000 for community facilities in Wombourne.

Freya Halsall, marketing manager for Bovis Homes, said: “It is a very proud moment for all of us to witness the end of construction work at Fletcher’s Rise. Now that all the new homes have been sold and most have been occupied by their owners, we can see a new community has already formed. As the final residents move in, the transformation from a building site into a vibrant neighbourhood will be complete.

“Fletcher’s Rise proved popular right from the outset. The new homes here have appealed to local house-hunters as well as those looking to move to the area from further afield. This was due in no small part to the fact that it is in a picturesque location and offers a village green and other open spaces to enjoy, with amenities on the doorstep in Wombourne.”

Employees from Bovis and staff from Forest of Mercia CIC planted a selection of 165 birch, rowan, cherry and crab apple trees on a two-thirds-of-an-acre strip of land next to Fletcher’s Rise. Forest of Mercia CIC, which is based in Hilton Green, near Essington, organises and runs environmentally friendly projects across Staffordshire and the West Midlands.

Detailed plans for Fletcher’s Rise were approved by South Staffordshire District Council in 2019.

Freya said: “This development has not only delivered much needed housing to the area but also brought 50 jobs in construction, sales and marketing for local people throughout the construction life of the site.

“Although all of the new homes at Fletcher’s Rise are now sold, we are committed to delivering new homes across Staffordshire. There are properties available at The Steadings in Essington where we are building a collection of two to five-bedroom homes under our Bovis Homes brand.”

There is a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve at The Steadings in Essington, with prices starting from £289,995.
