A Stafford junior football club looked the part when they headed to sunnier climes to play a tournament in Portugal - thanks to local house builder Bovis Homes
The under 8's team at Berkswich FC revealed a brand new kit on the trip to Lisbon for a tournament that saw the team playing a series of games against British, Portuguese and French teams. Their new orange and black kit, including Bovis Homes famous hummingbird logo, brought the team luck as they won the chance to play in the Benfica Stadium.
"The boys had a great time away in Portugal. The weekend started with them playing games in the training ground, but after winning against a local team, they were able to play in the legendary Benfica Stadium the following day!" says Donna Henry from Berkswich Football Club.
"The boys arrived at the ground in absolute awe of their surroundings. They felt like professional footballers entering the stadium and playing on the pitch.
"They had an amazing trip and formed some great friendships with other teams. They've come back with a fantastic team ethic that has really shone through. Thank you, Bovis Homes for helping the boys reach their target!"
The seven and eight-year-olds spent a weekend in the Portuguese capital, and played a total of five games.
"We're delighted to have been given the opportunity to sponsor the team," says Carina Wilde, Regional Marketing Manager for Bovis Homes. "The tournament was obviously a fantastic experience for the youngsters, and we were so pleased to have contributed towards it.
"Our regional head office is based nearby, in Dunston, and we are thrilled to support a local club with which many of our staff have connections."
Bovis Homes also has a range of developments across Staffordshire including in Stafford and Eccleshall, providing a selection of three to five bedroom houses.
