Local housebuilder Bovis Homes has given its backing to an Exeter-based cancer charity with a new fundraising initiative for the month of May.

The company's South West region will donate five pounds to FORCE Cancer Charity for every visitor on their first call to one of its sales offices across the region in May. It is the latest in a raft of fundraising initiatives that the region has undertaken for FORCE, its charity of the year for 2018.

Bovis Homes regional marketing manager Stacey Banfield said: “We're delighted to be continuing our support for FORCE, which will mean more key funding for an organisation that does brilliant work helping local people living with cancer and their families.”

Based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, FORCE, which stands for Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre, Exeter was established in 1987. The charity funds local research and buys equipment to improve patient care. It also has a cancer support and information centre for people needing physical, emotional, psychological and practical support.

“We're looking forward to welcoming lots of people to our locations across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. It's a great opportunity to take a look around our stunning show homes while helping to raise money for a worthy cause,” adds Stacey.

Oly Watts Fundraising Development Officer, said “It's wonderful that Bovis Homes is supporting FORCE Cancer Charity this year. The charity receives no government funding and therefore relies entirely on voluntary donations to keep the services running locally for anyone affected by cancer.

“It was lovely to hear recently that the Bovis Homes team will be helping to raise more funds this May for every new visitor to their developments across the South West.”

Since FORCE was chosen as the region's charity of the year in January, the region has raised more than £1,600 through raffles, cake sales and donations from weekly dress-down days. It is hoped the company can add another £1,200 to that total with this latest initiative.

Bovis Homes' South West region, which is based in Exeter, currently has thirteen live locations stretching from Hayle in Cornwall to Paulton in North Somerset.
