Bolnore Village has won Silver at the Royal Horticultural Society's "Britain in Bloom" Awards 2013, which took place recently in Cleethorpes.
Bolnore was selected as one of just 80 National finalists chosen from over 2000 entries, and one of only two winning entries from Sussex.
Bovis Homes played its part in the success, having teamed up with fellow housebuilder Crest Nicholson to donate a variety of colourful plants and flowers which hard-working residents planted all over Bolnore as part of a fabulous village-wide design.
The awards ceremony was hosted by radio and TV presenter and organic gardener Bob Flowerdew, who presented Bolnore's award to "Blooming Bolnore" team members Simon Lanaway and Al McPherson
Peter Holman, Chairman of South and South East in Bloom was delighted with Bolnore's success, particularly having only recently presented the village with gold and outright category winner in South and South East in Bloom for the second year running. Commenting following the awards Peter said: "This was an impressive performance by Bolnore Village in its very first Britain in Bloom, with much more to come in the future. Very well done!"
Following the village's success, they have again been nominated to take part in Britain in Bloom 2014, with judging taking place in July/August and the awards being presented at next year's gala ceremony in Bristol.
Organised by the Royal Horticultural Society, the national competition is one of Europe's largest horticultural campaigns and enables local communities to show off their efforts in environmental responsibility, community participation and horticultural achievements.
