Shelly and Scott Cormie settle into their new Bovis Homes at Windmill View

Life is set to change for Scott Cormie, who has served in the army for 22 years, and his wife Shelley. With plans underway for his retirement next year, the couple were determined to get a foot onto the property ladder.

"We have spent most of our married life travelling but now that Scott is set to retire we can finally settle down," said Shelley. "It is fair to say we have moved around a lot; we lived in Germany for a while and were based at different army barracks but we really wanted somewhere to call home."

With Scott's retirement looming and the launch of the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, the couple had the perfect opportunity to focus on their future.

And it is certainly set to flower - not only have they moved into a new three-bedroom Bovis Home but Shelley has also launched her own florist business.

"It has been a busy few weeks but because the house purchase was so straight forward I was able to focus on All Flowers, my new shop which opens in Horndean this month," said Shelley.

The couple were determined to live in the Clanfield area and when they visited Windmill View, Bovis Homes' stylish new development, they realised they had found their ideal home.

They were even more delighted to discover that they could take advantage of Help to Buy. Available to both first-time buyers and existing homeowners, the purchaser only needs a 5% deposit and the Government's 20% equity loan means they can access a 75% mortgage, which opens the door to more competitive lending rates and a dream move into a brand new Bovis Home.

"We were delighted - we loved the house and the figures added up," said Shelley. "The whole process was straightforward from start to finish and we were able to use Scott's army retirement money for our deposit.

"I cannot believe we finally own our own home and are actually living in it already."

Scott still has a few months before he returns to Clanfield on a permanent basis but the couple were keen to move in. They wanted their children settled for the new academic year and of course have All Flowers to focus on.

Windmill View is situated in the flourishing village of Clanfield, surrounded by rolling countryside, just north of Hornedean. With its ideal location boasting idyllic country living, along with great transport links, it provides benefits for all types of lifestyles.

The couple also had the pick of  a variety of individually designed two-storey properties, ranging from small starter homes to larger detached family homes, ideal for those needing extra space. The development also has a community centre, playing fields and allotments.
