Getting around

Buses run from Welland to Malvern, six miles away and Worcester, 15 miles away. The city is easily reached via the A4104 that runs through the village to the A38.  Junction1 of the M50 is approximately eight miles away and gives direct access to the M5 for the Midlands or South West. Trains run from Great Malvern direct to London Paddington, Worcester, Oxford, Hereford and Birmingham New Street and for air travel, Birmingham International Airport is about 50 miles away.


A trip to the shops
For local shopping the historic riverside town of Upton-upon-Severn is only four miles away and has convenience stores as well as a range of independent shops. The spa town of Malvern has a great mix of traditional High Street shops and services, as well as leading brands. The town has three supermarkets, and a retail park. For local produce and crafts Ledbury has twice-weekly markets and for city shopping Worcester''s Crown Gate Shopping Centre has around 50 stores in its Friary Walk and Chapel Walk areas.


Taking time out
With a home at St James Green you can enjoy everything from village fetes to prestigious regional events. There are activities for all ages at Welland Village Hall and St James'' Church holds concerts and community events. There are two village pubs, a children''s play area, sports fields and scenic walks from Castlemorton Common lead onto the Malvern Hills. The annual Welland Steam Rally, Upton Jazz Festival and Malvern Spring Festival are all major attractions, while the prestigious Malvern Theatre is an acclaimed regional arts centre with music, comedy, drama and film. The Malvern Splash Leisure Centre provides swimming pools and a gym and Manor Park Club has many racquet sports.


Education
Welland Primary School caters for children from four to eleven years and Welland Pre-School, a registered charity, takes two to four-year-olds. For senior pupils Hanley Castle High School is about five miles away and has sixth form facilities. The independent Malvern College is a co-educational school for 13 to 18 year olds and Malvern St James Girls'' School caters for young pupils from Pre-Prep age through to sixth form.

  • Leave Worcester on the A44 New Road
  • Bear left onto the A449 Bromwich Road
  • At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto A449
  • At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A449
  • Take the 2nd exit at the next roundabout onto the A449
  • At Little Malvern turn left onto the A4104 towards Upton and continue for approximately 4 miles
