Getting around

Northfields, situated in Somerton is well located in the county of Somerset. With only thirty minutes taken to reach the M5 it offers easy links to the cities of Bristol and Exeter. Only a short distance away is the mainline train station of Castle Cary connecting you direct to London Paddington. If you need to travel by air, both Bristol and Exeter International Airports are conveniently only an hour's drive away.

A trip to the shops

The town of Somerton offers plenty of specialist shops, elegant tea rooms and country pubs. It is most well-known for its historic market square which has held a weekly market since the Middle-Ages and is visited by many looking to soak up Somerton's culture. Whilst retaining its delightful charm, the town also offers some more modern shops and a supermarket to make food shopping easily accessible. Not too far away in the cities of Bristol and Exeter are larger shopping centres offering plenty of national stores.

Taking time out

You can take a walk around this small town full of beautiful 17th and 18th century history. Located on the edge of town is the Somerton Viaduct Fishery; considered one of the most stunning, natural commercial fisheries in the country. Somerton also holds events all year round including the annual, week long Summer Arts Festival in mid-July.

Education

There are a number of Primary schools in Somerton and its surrounding area. Located not too far away in the towns of Yeovil and Castle Cary are a number of Secondary schools to choose from. Further education includes Somerset College which specialises in arts and technology and also offers a number of degrees for those seeking higher education.

From Bristol

  • Merge onto M5 South from Bristol
  • Follow M5 for approximately 32 miles to Junction 23, signposted A39 Glastonbury/Wells
  • At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A39
  • Continue on the A39 for approximately 12 miles then at the Street roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Glaston Road
  • At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto the B3151 for approximately 2 miles
  • Follow the B3151 for approximately 4 miles then turn right onto Horse Mill Lane signposted Somerton
  • At the mini roundabout take 2nd exit, straight ahead onto Behind Berry Road
  • Follow the road, at the mini roundabout take the second exit onto Langport Road
  • Follow Langport Road for approximately 0.2 miles before turning right into Bancombe Road
  • The Northfields development will then be on your right.

From Exeter

  • Merge onto M5 North from Exeter
  • Follow M5 for approximately 30 miles to to Junction 25 and take the A358 signposted Taunton/Yeovil
  • At the roundabout, take 4th exit onto the A358
  • In 2.4 miles turn left onto the A378 for 9.7 miles
  • Continue onto Somerton Road A372 for 0.3 miles
  • At the roundabout, continue straight on B3153 for 3.5 miles then turn left at Bancombe Road
  • and the Northfields development will then be on your right.
