Getting around

The nearby A420 links Shrivenham to Swindon, 7 miles away, and Oxford 26 miles. The market town of Faringdon is only a 7 mile drive on the A420, while junction 15 of the M4, for London and Wales is only 8 miles away on the A420 and A419. Buses run daily on weekdays from Shrivenham to Oxford, Faringdon and Swindon. For air travel Bristol Airport is 58 miles away and Heathrow is 71 miles away.

A trip to the shops

You can watch the wildlife at the Coate Water Country Park, 7 miles away, and see the latest films at Swindon's Cineworld or Empire Cinemas. Shrivenham's Church of England Primary School dates back to 1863 and caters for children from four to 11-year-olds. In the grounds of the school you'll find The Barn Kindergarten taking two to four-year-olds and an Out of School Club for primary pupils.  For senior pupils Faringdon Community College with sixth form is a mixed comprehensive for 11 to 18-year-olds. The Pinewood School at nearby Bourton is an independent school for boys and girls aged from 3 to 13 years.

From M4 Junction 15

  • Head north on the A419 Marlborough Road towards Swindon and Oxford
  • Continue for approximately 4 miles
  • Take the exit towards Gablecross
  • and Shrivenham
  • At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A420 Merlin Way
  • At the White Hart roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A420
  • On reaching the Gablecross roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on the A420 for approximately 2 miles
  • Turn right onto Townsend Road and Townsend Place will be found on the left

From Swindon

  • Head north west on the A4312 Drakes Way/Oxford Road
  • Continue for approximately 2 miles
  • At the White Hart roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A420
  • On reaching the Gablecross roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay the A420 for approximately 2 miles
  • Turn right onto Townsend Road and Townsend Place will be found on the left
