Getting around
Malpas is just off the A41 which runs north towards Chester, 16 miles and the M54 near Telford in the south. The A41 also provides a link to the A49 to Shrewsbury within 27 miles. The busy Welsh town of Wrexham is only 13 miles via the A41 and A534. Whitchurch station is 6 miles away and provides services to Manchester, Crewe, Shrewsbury, Cardiff, Swansea and Carmarthen. Buses also run from Malpas to Whitchurch and Chester. For air travel Manchester Airport is less than 50 miles.

A trip to the shops
Malpas has a bustling village High Street offering many essentials from groceries and bread to electrical goods and pet food. There is also a monthly Farmer's and Craft Market. For town shopping nearby Whitchurch is a Shropshire market town full of independent shops and it's only 16 miles to Chester with its 700-year-old 'Rows' - two tier, timbered, shopping galleries - and the Grosvenor Shopping Centre boasting more than 60 stores. Just 6 miles north from Chester along the M53 Cheshire Oaks is the largest designer outlet in Europe with more than 145 designer brands.

Taking time out
Malpas is a thriving and active community with many clubs and groups for all ages and interests from brownies, badminton and history, to zumba, golf and flower arranging. The ancient St Oswald's Church is in the heart of the village which also has its own library, three pubs, a wine bar, as well as restaurants, takeaways and cafes. Malpas Sports Centre offers gym and fitness facilities and Malpas and District Sports Club offers football, cricket, bowls, tennis, snooker and pool for all ages. If you are a film lover, you can enjoy an evening at Wrexham's Odeon cinema and for a great family day out Cholmondeley Castle Gardens are a must with its nature trail, mere and lakeside walks, arboretum, children's playground and zoo.

The village has two pre-schools and Malpas Alport is the village primary school catering for pupils aged from 4 to 11 years. In 2014 it was rated 'good' by Ofsted. For senior pupils the Bishop Heber High School on Chester Road, was rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted in 2011 and includes sixth form facilities.

From Chester

  • Take Whitchurch Road/A41 to B5069 for around 14 miles
  • Take the B5069 and continue for around 2 miles leading onto the Chester Road
  • Hampton Lea can be found on the left hand side.

From M6 Junction 16

  • Take the A500 to Nantwich/Crewe
  • At the 4th roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Nantwich bypass/A51
  • Continue along the A51 leading onto Cuckoo Lane
  • At the T junction, turn left then immediate right onto Tally Ho Lane
  • 1st right onto Swanley Lane leading into Springe Lane/Nantwich Road
  • Take left onto the A49
  • Turn right onto Bickley Lane
  • Turn right onto A41
  • Continue to B5069 to Chester Road and Hampton Lea is on the left hand side.
