Getting around
The main A600 runs through Lower Stondon linking the village to Bedford, 14 miles north and Hitchin, 4 miles south. The M1, the major motorway route from London to the East Midlands is just 13 miles away, while the A1(M) is just 7 miles. Local buses run from Lower Stondon and for train travel there are stations at Arlesey, just a short drive away and Hitchin, only 10 minutes by car. Both stations have direct services to London and Cambridge, you can reach London Kings Cross in just 40 minutes from Arlesey. For international flights Luton Airport is approximately 14 miles away.

A trip to the shops
Just 4 miles away in historic Hitchin you have a choice of established independent shops and larger brand names and the town's twice-weekly open market that has been running for 500 years and is now the largest in the Home Counties. Another 4 miles on and you reach the world's first Garden City, Letchworth, which boasts the Garden Square shopping centre and the covered mall built in 1922 offering quaint and quirky stores. A trip to Bedford's Harpur Centre offers 30 quality shops, while popular department stores and high street chains are also nearby.

Taking time out
Lower Stondon village has a golf club, local football club and is well known for its summer car boot sales. If you like a flutter you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon at Hitchin Lavender Farm at Ickleford. Swimmers can take the plunge at nearby Biggleswade or Hitchin and there are many scenic walks in and around the area. Letchworth Garden City offers a wealth of attractions, including Broadway, an independent 4 screen cinema, theatre and arts centre, various museums and an outdoor pool, while the majestic city of Cambridge with its stunning architecture and historic streets is only a 30 mile drive.

Education
Lower Stondon has its own Lower School and the Merry Poppets Nursery Flying Start Children's Centre for those with under 5s and there's the Derwent Lower School at Henlow. Henlow Middle School is less than three miles away while the Samuel Whitbread Academy in Shefford caters for senior pupils.

  • At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A600 signposted Bedford
  • Stay on the A600 at the next 5 roundabouts
  • At the next roundabout take the first exit onto Station Road signposted Lower Stondon
  • Stondon Park can be found a short distance ahead on the left hand side

From A1(M) junction 10

  • At the roundabout take the exit onto the A507 signposted Stotfold and Shefford
  • Stay on the A507 at the next 5 roundabouts
  • At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Hitchin Road B659 signposted Lower Stondon
  • Continue forward onto the A600
  • At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Station Road signposted Shillington, Lower Stondon, Upper Stondon
  • Stondon Park can be found a short distance ahead on the left hand side

From M1 junction 13

  • At roundabout take the exit onto the A507 signposted Ampthill and Ridgmont
  • At traffic signals turn right onto the A507
  • Stay on the A507 for the next 12.7 miles
  • At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A507 signposted Henlow and M1
  • At the next roundabout go straight over onto the A507 signposted Henlow and M1
  • At roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Station Road signposted Shillington, Lower Stondon, Upper Stondon
  • Stondon Park can be found a short distance ahead on the left hand side
