Getting around

Hadden Grove is just off the A4130 that joins the A34, 4 miles away. Oxford is to the north and Junction 13 of the M4 to the south. The A4130 also leads east to Wantage, or west to Wallingford, Henley-on-Thames, and Reading via the A4074. Didcot Parkway railway station is a little over a mile from Hadden Grove from where trains run direct to Oxford, taking about 12 minutes, or to Paddington, around 45 minutes. For air travel Heathrow Airport is 42 miles away.

A trip to the shops

Didcot has a range of both local and national retailers, with many such as Argos, Next and The Body Shop, based at its Orchard Centre. There's a monthly farmers' market offering fresh local produce, and a choice of supermarkets. Nearby Wallingford has many independent shops and weekly markets and in Oxford city centre the Westgate Centre is home to more than 100leading retailers, including a John Lewis department store. Oxford Covered Market dates back to the 1770s and has more than 40 traders, while Templars Square at Cowley, offers scores more indoor shops, including a Boots and a New Look.

Taking time out

Didcot Railway Centre with its impressive steam engines is popular with all ages, as is Cornerstone, a purpose built arts and live entertainment venue. The town has a Cineworld and many events, fairs and classes are run at Didcot Civic Hall. Sports and fitness fans can choose from three leisure centres and around 50 clubs, and there many groups catering for a wide range of leisure interests. Relax at Mowbray Fields Nature Reserve, or wander in Millennium Wood at the Hagbourne Triangle. Children will love Edmonds Park with 21 acres of sports and play areas, or Ladygrove Park with a further 28 acres. For anglers and wildlife watchers, visit Ladygrove Lakes.


There are a number of primary schools in Didcot. One of the nearest to Hadden Grove is All Saints Church of England Primary that caters for children aged from 5 to 11 years, while its nursery takes youngsters aged 3. There are three secondary schools for 11 to 19 year olds. Didcot Girls' School is for girls aged 11 to 16, and St Birinus School, a comprehensive academy, takes boys up to 16 years.  Didcot Girls' School has a mixed, sixth form with St Birinus, for students aged 16 to 18 years. The UTC Oxfordshire, (University Technical College), caters for 14 to 19 year olds.

  • Leave the A34 at the A4130
  • At the roundabout take the 2nd exit for the A4130
  • After approximately 2 miles, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the B4493
  • Continue along Station Road and into Hitchcock Way
  • At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Broadway, B4016
  • At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto
  • Hadden Hill, A4130
  • Continue up Hadden Hill
  • Hadden Grove can be found on the right-hand side

From Reading

  • Take the Caversham Road, A4155, crossing the
  • River Thames
  • Turn left onto A4074, continue up St Peter's Hill and Woodcote Road
  • Continue on the A4074 for about 11 miles
  • At the roundabout take the 1st exit into Nosworthy Way, A4130
  • Continue on the A4130, passing Wallingford, for about 6 miles
  • You will enter Didcot along Hadden Hill, passing the golf club on the right-hand side
  • Hadden Grove will be found on the left-hand side
