Getting around
Congleton offers easy and direct access to junction 17 of the M6, seven miles away and from there Manchester is just twenty miles north and Stoke-on-Trent ten miles to the south. Birmingham, Chester, Warrington and Liverpool are also around an hour or so by car. Coaches run regularly from Stoke and for rail passengers Congleton's train station offers direct services to Manchester and Stoke. For air travel Manchester International Airport is only nineteen miles away.

A trip to the shops
There are a number of local shops in Congleton including chemists, Marks and Spencer Simply Food and Tesco, butchers, florists and newsagents, while ten miles away Macclesfield's Grosvenor Centre offers more than thirty High Street and independent stores. Stoke-on-Trent offers city centre shopping seventeen miles away and a wealth of factory shops selling world famous pottery brands. Under an hour's drive to The Trafford Centre, Manchester will give you top retailers such as Selfridges and House of Fraser and in the city's Arndale centre you'll find two hundred and forty stores on a one mile circuit, featuring some of the biggest names in fashion.

Taking time out

The Macclesfield Canal runs very close by, the Peak District National Park offers stunning scenery and beautiful walks, and the Cheshire cycleway passes through the nearby village of Astbury. Historic places of interest include Little Moreton Hall, a Grade One listed, 15th-century manor house and the Jacobean-style Capesthorne Hall, while Biddulph Grange and Country Park is just five miles away. Congleton itself also has a selection of pubs, restaurants and fitness centres.

Senior schools include Congleton High and Eaton Bank, both of which offer sixth form facilities. All Hallows Catholic College in Macclesfield for senior students, also has a feeder school in Congleton, St Mary's Catholic Primary School.

From M6 Junction 17

  • At Junction 17, take the A534 exit to Congleton
  • Follow the A534 signposted Congleton for approximately five and a half miles
  • At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Holmes Chapel Road/West Road (A34)
  • Continue to follow A34 for approximately one mile
  • Turn right onto Rood Hill/Mountbatten Way (A54) and at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit
  • At the 2nd roundabout, take the 2nd exit and then keep left at the fork in the road
  • Turn left into Bromley Road and continue into Brookhouse Lane
  • Brook Valley can be found on the left hand side
