A former Royal Engineer who works at a Bishop’s Cleeve-based housebuilder says he is “absolutely delighted” to be announced as a finalist in a major ex-forces awards.

Roger Morton, performance director at Bovis Homes – part of the newly-formed Vistry Group which has regional headquarters at Cleeve Hall – has been shortlisted in the British Ex-Forces in Business Awards, out of more than 500 nominees.

Roger, from Leckhampton, is in the running for the Military Values in Business Award, which recognises a former serviceman or woman who has created successful business results by applying military virtues to their role. He joins two other Vistry Group employees who have also been shortlist... more

View our video: A bricklaying apprentice from Gloucester who joined a national housebuilder straight from school, with dreams of management, says there are opportunities for other young people to follow suit.

George Woodward, 16, works at Bovis Homes’ Oaklands location in Hunts Grove, Hardwicke, and is in the first year of his apprenticeship with the housebuilder after finding the role online.

Families at a Banbury new-build location have been making full use of a new community centre, complete with a stage, youth wing and meeting rooms, and look forward to using it again later in the year.

Home owners have been enjoying groups and facilities at the Longford Park Community Centre, which opened recently after the ownership of the building was legally transferred to Cherwell District Council.

A bricklaying apprentice in Wellingborough, who is working on a national housebuilder’s flagship location, is progressing as a trainee assistant site manager as he looks to further his career.

Patrick Deloughery, 19, is completing Bovis Homes’ 12-month trainee assistant site manager programme at the housebuilder’s Wendelburie Rise location, at Stanton Cross, while completing the fourth year of his apprenticeship.

Image for Pre-school pupils receive boost from Winchester housebuilder

Pupils at Oliver’s Battery Pre-School in Winchester are set to benefit after a welcome donation from local housebuilder, Bovis Homes.

Bovis Homes’ Winchester Village development is just a 12-minute walk from the pre-school, and the £200 boost from the housebuilder will be put towards renovation and maintenance work.

Vistry Group and Clarion Housing Group have announced a new joint venture to build 1,000 homes on a £400million development, at Collingtree, near Northampton.

The mixed tenure development will comprise 700 homes for private sale, which range from one to five-bedroom homes from Vistry Group’s new property collection. There will be 300 affordable homes in total, 195 for shared ownership and 105 for affordable rent. The strength of the joint venture has allowed an increase in the number of affordable homes, which was a priority for both organisations.

Vistry Group and Clarion will also make a significant investment in social infrastructure, providing a number of facilities to support the local community.
