Carley and Justin Hodge enjoying their new home at Abbey Place
Like many young families these days, Carley and Justin Hodge couldn't see a way out of their small starter home which they were quickly outgrowing.
With three children under six, they were beginning to feel more and more boxed in. Their house had been on the market for a year and their options appeared limited.
Luckily they discovered Abbey Place, a new development by Bovis Homes off Thistle Hill on the Isle of Sheppey. Here, with the help of Bovis Homes' Home Exchange Scheme, the family has just moved into a stunning five bedroom detached home.
"We had no intention of moving to Minster, as our children were in school in Iwade, but we thought we'd have a look as we knew Bovis were doing part exchange. As soon as we walked through the front door though we just fell in love with it" says Carley, 36.
"Everything is so big!" she adds. "We have a large kitchen, living room and separate dining room. Our bedroom is big, the children each have their own room, with my daughter even having her own ensuite, we have a nice landing, the garden's a good size and we even have a double garage. In our house in Iwade we had two of the children in one room and one in a tiny box room. We desperately needed more space."
The family could not be happier in their new home. Justin works for a facilities management company in Ashford, and enjoys a commute of just 45 minutes, and the children have settled happily into their new surroundings. The two elder children aged six and four continue to attend school in nearby Iwade, while Carley works part time as a community carer.
They are really enjoying the lifestyle and family-friendly community that the development offers. There is a park, a local shop and even the beach is in walking distance. The stylish development has two bedroom apartments and three and four bedroom homes. It also enjoys easy access to the A249 and the A2, London and the rest of Kent. The island's railway station at Sheerness-on-Sea offers a regular service to London Victoria via Sittingbourne.
"We are delighted to have been able to help Justin and Carley find their dream home," says Chris Roads, Sales Operations Director at Bovis Homes. "It is becoming increasing difficult for young families to move up the property ladder but our Home Exchange scheme has been designed to help. Purchasers can forget about estate agent's fees and frustrating property chains. What's more, they can carry on living in their existing house until their new Bovis Home is ready to move into."
Prices at Abbey Place currently start from £107,950, with a selection of two bedroom apartments and coach houses, three bedroom terraced house and town houses, and four bedroom detached houses available.
