Woolley Grange play area 10

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats mascot Daddy Cool was on hand to try out the new equipment when Bovis Homes opened a new play area at Woolley Grange Park with a big community party.

More than 150 local residents turned out to join in the fun - with local families joined by community representatives from the local police, Cllr June Drysdale and many of the Woolley Grange Residents Association team.

"The new area has been taking shape over the last 12 weeks and it was great to see Janine England, a founder member of the residents association, cut the ribbon and let the children finally get at it!" said Daniel Oliver, Design Manager from Bovis Homes Central and Northern Region. "A new community is taking shape at Woolley Grange and it is events like this which bring people together and show how strong that community spirit is.

"We've been working closely with the local council and the Woolley Grange Residents Association in making sure that facilities are being provided for the area, and we are delighted that the new play area was so well received. We hope it will bring fun for generations to come."

The new play area has cradle swings, a multi-use activity tower, a spinning 4-seater waltzer and a birds nest swing, and as well as the antics of Daddy Cool, the party also featured a children's entertainer and heaps of party food.

"Many of the families who came along to the event have just started out on the property ladder at Woolley Grange and it is a place which has something for everyone," said Liz Cooper, Area Sales Manager.  "With the new assistance schemes such as the Government-backed FirstBuy scheme - first time buyers in Wakefield and Barnsley can see that getting on the property ladder in the area is possible."
