Getting around
Walnut Grange is less than five minutes' from the A46 which links the area to Alcester, 5 miles, Stratford, 8 miles and beyond to the M40. Go south on the A46 for Evesham, 6 miles and M5 Junction 9 is 25 miles. For M5 northbound, Junction 7 is less than 20 miles. From Alcester the A435 provides a direct link to the M42 and on to Birmingham, 26 miles. Buses run hourly from Salford Priors to Bidford, Stratford and Evesham. Evesham railway station, 6 miles, has train services to London Paddington, Worcester and Oxford. For air travel Birmingham Airport is 28 miles and Coventry airport 30 miles.

A trip to the shops
Salford Priors has a Post Office and Stores and at nearby Bidford-on-Avon there is a supermarket, pharmacy, bakery and other local shops. Hillers Farm Shop with produce, gifts and interiors is close by and in Alcester you'll find a Waitrose supermarket and further town centre stores. Evesham has High Street names, a Saturday market and retail parks and Evesham Country Park offers garden, home and fashion goods. Take an 8 mile trip to Stratford-upon-Avon for Marks & Spencer, Debenhams and Laura Ashley department stores as well as many quality independents. At the Maybird Shopping Park there are many major retailers and a Tesco superstore.

Taking time out
The village has a pub, The Bell, the historic St Matthew's Church and numerous local clubs for all ages. There are many scenic footpaths and the 26 acre, Big Meadow at Bidford-on-Avon is ideal for riverside picnics with a well-equipped play area. For fitness and sports Evesham, Alcester and Stratford-upon-Avon all have leisure centres. Also at Stratford, there's the world-famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre and you can enjoy boating on the River Avon. Visit Wellesbourne Market, one of the UK's biggest, or take to the skies at Bidford Gliding and Flying Club. For film, live music and comedy visit The Regal Cinema in Evesham a beautifully restored Art Deco venue.

Salford Priors Church of England Primary School, is close to Walnut Grange and is rated 'good' by Ofsted. For senior pupils Alcester Academy, also with an Ofsted 'good' rating caters for 11-16's. Alcester Grammar School, is co-educational and includes a sixth form and has an 'outstanding' Ofsted rating. St Benedict's Catholic High School is also a co-educational secondary school with sixth form and is rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted. For further education there's South Worcestershire College in Evesham, and Stratford College.

From Worcester and M5 Junction 7

  • Take the Whittington Road A4440
  • Continue on the A4440 along Swinesherd Way for about 1 mile
  • At the roundabout take the 3rd exit on to the A44
  • At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit and continue on the A44, Evesham Road
  • Stay on the A44 for approximately 11 miles
  • At the roundabout with the A46 take the 1st exit on to the A46 for Stratford
  • Continue on the A46 for about 4 miles
  • At the roundabout take the 1st exit for Station Road, Salford Priors
  • Walnut Grange can be found on the right-hand side.

From Stratford-upon-Avon

  • Leave Stratford on the A4390
  • At the roundabout continue ahead on the B439 Evesham Road
  • Continue for nearly 7 miles to Bidford on Avon
  • At the roundabout take the 2nd exit, B439, Salford Road
  • Continue for 1 mile
  • At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit, crossing the A46 into Station Road, Salford Priors
  • Walnut Grange can be found on your right-hand side.
