Getting around
The A417 runs through Fairford and leads directly to the A419 trunk route to Swindon and junction 15 of the M4 for London, or for Bristol, the South West and Wales. Go north to Cirencester and junction 11a of the M5, or head east to Lechlade-on-Thames where the A361 links to the A40 for Oxford and on to the M40 for London or Birmingham. Local buses run from Fairford to Swindon and Lechlade. Trains run regularly from Swindon, 16 miles, to London Paddington and to Bristol. From Kemble, 15 miles, they go direct to London Paddington, Gloucester and Cheltenham. For air travel Heathrow is 80 miles and Bristol Airport 68 miles.

A trip to the shops
Fairford has two convenience stores, a Boots pharmacy, a post office, opticians, bank, gift and antiques shops, as well as regular markets. A free weekly bus service runs to Tesco in Cirencester, ten miles away, where you'll also find a Waitrose supermarket together with an array of quality independent shops and High Street names including a House of Fraser department store. The Charter Market is held weekly and the historic Corn Hall hosts regular antiques and craft fairs. At Swindon the Designer Outlet has more than 90 stores full of iconic brands, while its Orbital Shopping Park, just 12 miles, includes a a choice of major retailers.

Taking time out
Whether you're a sports-fan, history buff or plane-spotter Fairford has something for everyone! There are many local groups and sports groups for all ages and Farmor's Sports Centre has a sports hall, gym and tennis courts. Enjoy a peaceful stroll along the scenic River Coln, or visit beautiful Cotswold villages such as Bibury. Fairford and Cirencester have many pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes and for film-lovers there's a multi-screen cinema in Swindon. The Royal International Air Tattoo takes place every year at RAF Fairford and the Cotswold Water Park boasts 140 lakes with water sports, cycling, birdwatching, angling, sailing or simply relaxing with a picnic on its sandy beach.

Education
Fairford Pre-School, a registered charity, was rated 'good' by Ofsted, as was Fairford Church of England Primary School which takes children aged from four to 11-years. For senior pupils there's Farmor's School, rated outstanding by Ofsted which includes a sixth form. For further and higher education Cirencester College offers 'A' levels, apprenticeships, vocational and university level courses.

From M4 Junction 15/A419

  • Head north west on A419
  • Take the exit towards Stratton/South Marston/Honda
  • At the roundabout continue straight onto A361 Highworth Road
  • At Honda (North) take 2nd exit and stay on A361
  • Continue on the A361 for approximately 8 miles, passing through Highworth
  • In Lechlade turn left onto the High Street, A417
  • Continue on the A417 for approximately 4 miles
  • As you enter Fairford, Keble Fields can be found on your left hand side.

From Cirencester

  • Take the A429, Burford Road at the Swindon Road roundabout
  • Turn immediately right onto London Road, A417
  • Continue along the A417 for approximately 9 miles
  • Continue through Fairford town centre, on the A417
  • Pass over the River Coln, on the London Road, A417
  • In just under 1 mile, pass Cinder Lane
  • Keble Fields can be found on the right hand side.
