Getting around…
Colchester has quick and easy access to the national travel networks so it's apt that Quadriga is named after a four-horse chariot. Living here you benefit from excellent local public transport services as well as good road links via the A12, M25 and A14. Frequent intercity rail services operate between Colchester and London Liverpool Street (50 minutes), Norwich (60 minutes) and the international port of Harwich (25 minutes). And Stansted airport is just 30 miles east of Colchester, served by regular coach transfers.
A trip to the shops…
Living in Colchester you have all the shopping amenities you could wish for close at hand - from supermarkets, home furnishing outlets and department stores to the more specialist independent shops. In the town centre you'll find all the main high street fashion brands. And when you want a change of scenery, the shopping centres of Ipswich and Chelmsford are just 20 or so miles away. Then of course, London is less than an hour by train, putting Oxford Street, Covent Garden and the West End stores within easy reach.
Taking time out…
The ancient town of Colchester with its Roman remains, historic Norman castle and awardwinning museums is a wonderful place to call home. A wide variety of cosmopolitan restaurants cater for all tastes, whilst for entertainment there's the Mercury Theatre, Odeon Cinema and Art Centre. Sport and fitness fans have various health clubs and recreational facilities to choose from including Colchester Leisure World. What's more, not only does the town have a golf centre but also football, rugby and cricket clubs. For those who enjoy walking and cycling, there's the High Woods Country Park and Wivenhoe Trail, which runs alongside the River Colne.
Education...
Colchester boasts some of the highest achieving school and colleges in the country. There is a wide selection of primary, secondary and high schools in the neighbourhood catering for pupils. For further education, the University of Essex can be found at Wivenhoe Park on the outskirts of town. Colchester Institute, the largest vocational college in Essex, also has a campus in the centre of Colchester.
